DZOFILM Marlin 1.4x Expander PL to E / RF / L / Z Mount Cine Lens Expander — PL lens expander from S35 to Full Frame, 1.4x focal length, under 1 stop of light loss

DZOFILM Marlin 1.4x Expander is an image expander for PL lenses that lets Super 35 lenses work on Full Frame cameras without dark corners. It enlarges the image circle to cover a Full Frame sensor while keeping the lens's original angle of view, and increases focal length by 1.4x, like gaining an extra lens. Light loss is under 1 stop, less than the 1.6x version's roughly 1.5 stops, for better brightness. Premium optics combine high-refractive-index SR elements with a large Aspherical element to preserve sharpness and image detail. Internal flocking reduces reflections and controls Chromatic Aberration, preserving the character of the original lens. Built-in Back Focus adjustment needs no shims. Aluminum body with stainless steel mounts on both sides, high-precision CNC.

  • Q: How is an Expander different from a regular Adapter?
    A: An Adapter only converts the mount, while an Expander has built-in optics that enlarge the image circle to cover Full Frame and increase focal length by 1.4x, so S35 lenses work on Full Frame cameras without dark corners.
  • Q: How much light is lost?
    A: Under 1 stop, less than the 1.6x version's roughly 1.5 stops, so a T2.8 lens remains genuinely usable in low light.
  • Q: Is Back Focus hard to adjust?
    A: It adjusts in place without removing the lens from the camera and without shims, which is very convenient on set.
