NiSi Aureus Prime 85mm T1.4 (PL Mount) — Full Frame short telephoto cine lens, T1.4 aperture, for portraits and close-ups

NiSi Aureus Prime 85mm T1.4 (PL Mount) A short telephoto cine prime from the NiSi Aureus series for ARRI PL mount cinema cameras. The 85mm delivers dimensional portraits and close-ups, with a compressed, softly blurred background. The T1.4 maximum aperture separates the subject clearly and handles low light. The 46 mm image circle covers Full Frame sensors and also works with Super35. The optics use Ultra-Low Dispersion elements to reduce chromatic aberration, purple fringing and distortion, while multi-layer coatings cut flare and ghosting. Virtually no focus breathing, 11 aperture blades, 300° focus rotation, 0.9 m minimum focus, 90 mm front diameter, 86 mm filter thread and a built-in rear filter slot. All-metal body weighing 1.3 kg, with gear positions matched across the series so you can swap lenses in the set without moving the follow focus or matte box. Official Thai Warranty

Key Features

• 85mm at T1.4 — 28.3° diagonal angle of view on Full Frame, compressing the background with very shallow depth of field for clear subject separation, ideal for character close-ups and emotional shots
• Virtually No Focus Breathing — Framing barely shifts when pulling focus during a shot
• Ultra-Low Dispersion Elements and Multi-Layer Coating — Reduces chromatic aberration, purple fringing, distortion, flare and ghosting for neutral color
• 11 Aperture Blades — Adjustable from T1.4 to T22 with soft, round bokeh
• 300° Focus Rotation — Precise focus pulls; 0.8 MOD gears work with standard follow focus units and focus motors
• Built-in Rear Filter Slot — Fit Aureus ND, Diffusion or effect filters at the rear of the lens
• Matched Size and Gear Positions Across the Series — 90 mm front diameter and 1.3 kg weight on every focal length, for fast lens changes without readjusting the rig
• Luminous Scales — Glow-in-the-dark markings on the focus and aperture rings are readable on dark sets
• Focus Scale Switchable Between Feet and Meters — Ships in feet; switch to meters with a dedicated tool (sold separately)

FAQ

• Q: Can I use it on Sony / Canon / L-Mount mirrorless cameras?
A: This lens is ARRI PL mount, so it works on mirrorless cameras via a PL adapter that matches your camera mount, such as PL to E, PL to RF or PL to L. NiSi states it is compatible with most adapters, but not with Meike's PL adapters that have a drop-in filter slot. Message us to check a specific adapter model
• Q: Does it work on Super35 cameras, and what is the field of view?
A: Yes. The 46 mm image circle already covers Super35 sensors, but the field of view narrows with the smaller sensor. On most Super35 cameras it is roughly equivalent to a 128mm lens on Full Frame
• Q: Is the focus scale in feet or meters?
A: The lens ships with a feet scale. If you need meters, you can swap the scale ring yourself with the Cinema Aureus Prime Tool, sold separately
• Q: What kinds of filters can I use?
A: Three options: 86 mm screw-in filters on the front, a 90 mm clamp-on matte box, or filters in the rear slot (such as Aureus ND or Diffusion), which is convenient when you are not using a matte box
