AstrHori AF 27mm F2.8 APS-C Pancake Autofocus Lens (Black / Titanium) — Lightweight 167g APS-C Pancake AF Lens with a 40mm (Equivalent) View

The AstrHori AF 27mm F2.8 is an ultra-slim APS-C autofocus pancake lens weighing just ~167g. Its STM motor delivers fast, quiet focusing and supports Eye/Face Detect AF on current camera systems. The 27mm focal length (~40mm equivalent on Full Frame) covers everyday shooting — street, portrait, travel and vlog — and a USB-C port allows future firmware updates. An outstanding-value choice for APS-C mirrorless shooters.

Key Features

  • Pancake design (very small and light): easy to carry and comfortable for daily use. The flat pancake body and very low weight (approx. 165−167g) keep your camera compact and ready for street photography or travel at any time.
  • Autofocus (AF): fast, quiet AF driven by an STM motor, supporting key camera functions such as Eye Recognition Focus for accurate stills and video.
  • 27mm (40mm equivalent): a normal angle of view that looks natural — neither too wide nor too tight — suited to many genres, including portrait, landscape, food and street.
  • F2.8 aperture: bright, sharp images with enough light for low-light shooting, plus attractive bokeh at close distances.
  • Firmware upgradable: a USB Type-C port on the lens mount connects to a computer for future firmware updates, helping the lens stay fully compatible with new camera models.
  • Retro design / quality materials: a classic, good-looking design with a metal body that feels solid and durable.

Best For

  • Street photography and travel (light and easy to carry)
  • Natural-looking portraits with a 40mm view
  • Vlogging (quiet AF + Eye/Face Detect support)
  • Food and tabletop product photography
  • Low-light shooting at F2.8
  • APS-C mirrorless beginners who want a quality, affordable autofocus lens

FAQ

  • Q: Does it support Eye AF / Face AF?
A: Yes. The lens uses an STM motor and communicates fully with the camera, so Eye Detect / Face Detect work on supported Sony / Nikon / Fuji bodies.
  • Q: What is the Full Frame equivalent?
    A: 27mm × 1.5 = ~40mm on Sony E / Nikon Z APS-C, and likewise × 1.5 = ~40mm on Fuji X — a view similar to human vision.
  • Q: How do I update the firmware?
A: Connect the USB Type-C port on the lens mount to a computer, then run the AstrHori Firmware Tool on Mac / Windows to update.
