7Artisans M 35mm F2.0 Mark II Manual Lens for Leica M — the "China-cron", an affordable rival to the Summicron 35mm F2 ASPH

Known as the "China-cron", the 7Artisans M 35mm F2.0 Mark II for Leica M is a value alternative to the Leica Summicron 35mm F2 ASPH, with similar size and weight that balance well on an M body. The F2.0 aperture delivers pleasing bokeh and handles low light well. The Mark II improves image quality, sharpness and contrast while reducing flare and CA.

Key Features

  • Great-value "China-cron": known as an affordable rival to the Leica Summicron 35mm f/2 ASPH, with similar size and weight for excellent balance on an M body
  • Light gathering and bokeh: the f/2.0 aperture gives good depth-of-field control, pleasing bokeh and reliable low-light performance
  • Rangefinder-coupled control: a manual-focus lens that couples accurately with the Leica rangefinder system, ideal for photographers who enjoy zone focusing
  • Improved Mark II design: the Mark II (Gen II) improves image quality with higher sharpness and contrast, and reduces flare and chromatic aberration compared with the previous version

FAQ

  • Q: What is the China-cron?
A: A nickname given by users — a 7Artisans lens that mirrors the specs of the Leica Summicron 35mm F2 ASPH at an accessible price.
  • Q: Do images look exactly like a Summicron?
A: Not exactly, but it is close in size and image quality — great value for those who don't want to pay full Leica prices.
  • Q: How does the Mark II differ from the Mark I?
A: The Mark II improves sharpness and contrast and reduces flare and purple fringing (Chromatic Aberration).
