AstrHori MF 25mm F2.8 Ultra Macro 5X Full Frame Lens — 2:1 – 5:1 Full Frame Macro Lens with F2.8 Aperture and All-Metal Body

The AstrHori MF 25mm F2.8 Ultra Macro is a high-magnification macro lens for Full Frame cameras, reaching up to 5:1 — rendering subjects five times larger than life (typical macro lenses only reach 1:1) and opening up a miniature world invisible to the naked eye. Magnification is freely adjustable from 2:1 to 5:1 with a ring on the lens. The short 25mm focal length gives more depth of field than a telephoto macro at the same magnification, so focus stacking is easier and needs fewer frames. A maximum aperture of F2.8 keeps images bright even at high magnification, and the sturdy all-metal body is built specifically for macro photographers.

Key Features

  • Up to 5:1 (5x) magnification: renders subjects up to five times larger than life! (Typical macro lenses reach 1:1.) Opens up a miniature world you cannot clearly see with the naked eye.
  • Wide magnification range: adjust from 2:1 to 5:1 simply by turning the ring on the lens, giving you full freedom over how far you zoom into the detail.
  • Greater depth of field (25mm wide angle): with a short 25mm focal length, this lens provides more depth of field than telephoto macro lenses (e.g. 100mm) at the same magnification, making focus stacking easier and requiring fewer frames.
  • F2.8 aperture (bright for a macro): a maximum aperture of F2.8 keeps images bright enough even at high magnification, which matters greatly in macro work where narrow apertures are common.
  • High-quality metal lens body with a strong, durable build (All-Metal Body), designed to withstand heavy use by macro photographers.

Best For

  • High-magnification macro (insects / scales / crystals)

FAQ

  • Q: How does 5:1 magnification differ from 1:1 macro?
A: 1:1 macro renders the subject on the sensor at life size, while 5:1 renders it five times larger than life, revealing detail the naked eye cannot see, such as hairs on an insect or the crystals of a snowflake.
  • Q: Why does 25mm make focus stacking easier?
A: A short focal length gives more depth of field than a telephoto lens at the same magnification, so each frame covers a deeper zone of sharpness and you need fewer frames in the stack.
  • Q: What accessories do I need?
A: We recommend a sturdy tripod and a macro focusing rail, because at high magnification the depth of field is very thin and even a tiny movement throws the focus off. Extra lighting is also advisable since the lens sits very close to the subject.
