AstrHori MF 6mm F2.8 Full Frame Circular Fisheye Lens 220° — 220° Circular Fisheye for Full Frame Mirrorless

The AstrHori MF 6mm F2.8 is a circular fisheye lens designed to project a complete circular image on Full Frame mirrorless sensors. Its 220-degree angle of view (wider than typical 180° fisheyes) captures more than a full hemisphere. The 10-element, 8-group optical design with ED & HR elements delivers edge-to-edge sharpness, and the F2.8 aperture makes it ideal for astrophotography and night-sky work.

Key Features

  • Produces a circular image on a Full Frame sensor surrounded by a black border, for a striking and highly distinctive look.
  • An extremely wide 220-degree angle of view (wider than typical fisheyes, which are usually 180°), capturing all the way behind the lens.
  • Designed specifically for Full-frame mirrorless cameras for the most complete circular fisheye result.
  • Excellent low-light performance, ideal for astrophotography and sharp night images.
  • Focuses as close as 0.08 m (8 cm) for dramatic fisheye distortion that exaggerates the size of close subjects.
  • 10-element, 8-group optical design including special ED & HR elements for sharp, high-contrast images even at the edges.
  • Weighs only about 340 g (depending on mount) and is compact for its field of view, making it easy to carry.

Best For

  • Astrophotography and Milky Way shots
  • Creative / art photography wanting a 360° circular perspective
  • Interiors and tight spaces
  • Skateboarding / extreme action sports
  • VR / panorama photography
  • Night sky / aurora / star trails

FAQ

  • Q: What is the difference between a circular fisheye and a diagonal fisheye?
A: A circular fisheye (this lens) projects a round image with a black border on a Full Frame sensor, while a diagonal fisheye fills the frame like a regular lens but with curved distortion — circular is better suited to creative work.
  • Q: Is it good for astrophotography?
A: Very much so — F2.8 at 6mm allows long exposures without star trails (the 500 rule gives ~83 seconds!), capturing plenty of starlight.
  • Q: Can fisheye images be corrected back to a normal look?
A: Partially, using Defish in Lightroom / Photoshop, but because this is a 220° circular image a lot of edge information is lost. We recommend embracing the fisheye effect as the highlight of the shot.
