Tilta Hydra Electronic Suction Cup 6 inch with Built-in Battery and IPX5

Tilta Hydra Electronic Suction Cup 6 inch with Built-in Battery and IPX5 — 6-inch electronic vacuum suction cup with 1,000 pressure checks/sec, automatic re-pumping, 19-hour built-in battery, 106 lbs load capacity, IPX5 water resistance

The Tilta Hydra Electronic Suction Cup 6" is an electronic vacuum suction mount with a built-in battery for securing cameras to smooth surfaces such as car windows, car bodies or building glass. Its key feature is an air pressure monitoring system that checks 1,000 times per second; if suction drops, the motor automatically pumps to restore it, so it holds far more reliably than hand-pump suction cups that you have to keep checking. The built-in battery runs for 19 hours and fast-charges via USB-C PD, about 3 hours longer than the 4.5-inch model. The 6-inch silicone pad provides up to double the suction of the 4.5-inch model for heavier rigs. The new motor reaches full suction in 2 seconds, 200% faster, and runs quietly below 60dB, ideal for professional sets recording sound at the same time. It holds up to 106 lbs mounted vertically and 66 lbs mounted horizontally. IPX5 water resistance allows use in light rain. A High-Altitude Mode is available for low air-pressure areas. It can be released with a dedicated button or wirelessly from a distance. Expand it via 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads with a locating pin, compatible with Hydra Alien / Alien Pro / Alien Mini, NATO, Manfrotto Ball Head and Baby Pin.

FAQ

• Q: How is it different from a hand-pump suction cup?
A: Hand-pump cups need re-pumping when suction drops, and you often don't notice until it detaches. This model checks pressure 1,000 times/sec and re-pumps automatically, making it much safer.
• Q: How water resistant is IPX5?
A: It resists low-pressure water jets from any direction, so it can be used in drizzle or spray, but it is not designed to be submerged.
• Q: Why is the load capacity different vertically and horizontally?
A: When mounted vertically (e.g. a side window), the force is shear, so the cup holds 106 lbs. When mounted horizontally (e.g. a roof), the force pulls the cup straight off, so it holds 66 lbs.
