PDMOVIE Live Air 4 Smart paired with SMART FUSION turns manual E-mount lenses or PL cinema lenses into autofocus lenses on Sony cameras, using the camera's built-in AF system for control, including Wide AF, Spot, Zone, Focus Lock and Tracking. You can tap the screen or half-press the shutter just like with a native lens. SMART FUSION is thinner than a coin and weighs only 1.2 grams. It drops into the E-mount in 5 seconds, needs no body modification and uses no battery, then sends commands over Bluetooth to drive the motor, so there are no cables on the rig. The motor uses dual LiDAR: a near-range 28° unit and a long-range unit adjustable between 4° and 16°. It can focus out to 50 meters, and still reaches 15 meters in bright sunlight. It has 512 AI Virtual Lens models and more than 5,000 ranging points, 1.2Nm of torque, and a Double Power mode that refreshes the LiDAR at up to 960Hz. You can switch between 3 modes using the F value on the camera. Battery life is 6–8 hours, with wireless control from up to 100 meters.

• Q: What are F20 and F22?
  A: They are a way to switch modes from the camera. With a normal F value the camera's AF is used, setting F20 uses the motor's LiDAR AF, and setting F22 gives wireless manual focus control, with no need to press any button on the motor.
• Q: How is this different from buying SMART FUSION on its own?
  A: This product is available in options ranging from SMART FUSION alone to kits that include the LIVE AIR 4 SMART motor and a Follow Focus. If you already have the motor, the single unit is enough. If you do not, choose a kit to get everything in one box.
• Q: Can it be used with PL cinema lenses?
  A: Yes. Mount the PL lens through a PL-to-E adapter and SMART FUSION still communicates with the camera as normal, because it sits at the camera mount, not on the lens.
• Q: Can it be used with other camera brands?
  A: The SMART FUSION system is designed specifically for Sony E-mount cameras, because it has to read focus commands from the Sony camera through the mount contacts. Cameras from other brands can still use the LIVE AIR 4 SMART LiDAR motor or wireless manual focus, but will not get the camera's AF system.
