SmallRig HawkLock Handheld Cage Kit for Sony FX5 — All-Around Protection Camera Cage with Top Handle

The SmallRig HawkLock cage kit is designed specifically for the Sony FX5. It fits the body closely, mounts securely without twisting, has mounting points all around, and includes an enclosed Top Handle for low-angle handheld shooting. Two kits are available: Standard (6778) for general handheld work, and Advanced (6775), which adds a 15mm Rod Clamp and an adapter support for cinema work. 1-year Thai service center warranty.

Key Features

• Full camera protection — the U-shaped cage fits the FX5 body closely, with pads at the contact points to prevent scratches
• Secure Anti-Twist locking — each module is fixed at two or more points, so the camera does not shift even during all-day handheld shooting
• Mounting points all around — 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 holes, ARRI locating holes, a NATO Rail and an Arca-type plate under the cage for attaching a monitor, microphone, light and battery at the same time
• Enclosed Top Handle — a full-hand grip that mounts quickly via a NATO Clamp and reduces the chance of dropping the camera when shooting at low angles
• Removable Top Plate — configure the setup freely; to use the Sony XLR Handle (XLR-H2) or EVF (DVF-EL1), remove the Top Plate first
• HDMI cable clamp — helps prevent port damage and signal dropouts while shooting
• Built-in magnetic wrench — stored in the cage, ready for adjustments on set
• Quick setup, fast mode changes — switch quickly between handheld, gimbal and tripod use without slowing down the shoot

Standard vs Advanced

• Standard (6778) — 1 Top Plate with a QD socket for a strap, and the Arca plate under the cage mounts directly on DJI RS 2 / RSC 2 / RS 3 / RS 3 Pro / RS 4 / RS 4 Pro / RS 5 gimbals
• Advanced (6775) — 2 Top Plates, plus a 15mm Rod Clamp for a Follow Focus and an Adapter Support that carries the weight of a PL-E adapter to reduce load on the camera mount. The NATO Rail and Arca plate have anti-drop protection on both sides

FAQ

• Q: Can I use the Sony XLR Handle with the cage?
  A: Yes, but remove the Top Plate first (on the 6775, remove both). The same applies to the DVF-EL1 EVF.
• Q: Should I choose Standard or Advanced?
  A: If you mainly shoot handheld or on a gimbal, the Standard (6778) kit is enough. If you use a Follow Focus or PL lenses via an adapter, the Advanced (6775) is recommended.
• Q: Can I mount the Sony ECM-W3 wireless microphone on the Top Plate?
  A: No. The manufacturer confirms that the ECM-W3, ECM-W3S and ECM-W2BT are not compatible with the Top Plate.
